Succulent plants also Known as succulents are hugely popular houseplants. These plants have some parts that are more than normally thickened and fleshy, usually to retain water in arid climates or soil conditions.

These plants have the ability to store water in various structures such as the stems and leaves.

Most succulents come from areas in Africa or central America, where it is hot and there’s little humidity and since they are able to store water in their leaves, they can withstand long hours or days without water.

Types of succulents

Succulents are so trendy because they can also grow along with other types of plants, they offer a lovely diversity of color, shapes and style any place you may want to place them.

1. Jade Plant (crassula ovata)

This plant is also known as lucky plant, money plant or money tree, is a succulent plant with small pink or white flowers. It is found in South Africa and Mozambique, and is known as a houseplant everywhere. The plant stems from low levels of care needed; it requires little water and will survive inindoor conditions.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is the most widely sold succulent all over the world. This plant has been used for 1000’s of years and is still favored today. You find it in many homes and gardens and it also goes by many other names as well – Aloe barbadensis, First Aid Plant, True Aloe e.t.c. This beneficial plant with many purposes is really easy to grow in your home and in the garden.

3. Panda Plant (Kalanchoe tomentosa)

Panda plant, also known as pussy ears is a succulent plant in the genus Kalanchoe. It is found inMadagascar, it is a fairly popular houseplant on account of its small size, ease of care, and dark-red rimmed foliage

4. Roseum (Sedum Spurium)

This type of succulent plant looks like a rose on top with red edges. It it mostly found in Africa. It is easy to manage as it requires little attention to grow.

5. Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifascita)

This Succulent species of flowering plant is in the family of Asparagaceae and is mostly found in West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo. Most people know it as the snake plant and viper’s bowstring hemp.

6. Agave Azul

Along with plants from the closely related genera Yucca, Hesperoyucca, and Hesperaloe, various Agave species are popular ornamental plants in hot/dry climates, as they require very little supplemental water to survive.

7. Woolly Senecio

This plant is mostly found in Africa. it’s leaves are remarkably densely felted, so much so that the felt can be stripped off, dried, and used as tinder. Though its flowers are nothing special to look at, the plant is striking, easily grown, and fairly attractive.

8. Burro’s Tail

Also Known as donkey tail is a species of flowering plant in the family Crassulaceae, native to southern Mexico and Honduras.

9. Black Prince

This succulent has a deep green to brown color. It is able to be grown indoors, although it will lose its color if it does not receive enough light.

10.Chalk liveforever

This succulent grows a rosette of wide, flat fleshy leaves of pale green which age to a pinkish papery texture. It produces one to many tall erect stems which are similar in color.

The epidermis of the plant is covered with a dense coating of chalky, powdery “wax”. Its pale green or white nodding or erect inflorescences bear many pinkish flowers.
